At just over 5800 foot elevation, in a setting of pinion and juniper, natural beauty surrounds us here in Sundance Mesa.  When the high desert blooms in spring, there are varying shades of yellow, red, pink, blue and purple visible on native plants.  The sunrises and sunsets are magnificant and magical year round, and at night our dark skies are alight with millions of stars.  Placitas lies at the north escarpment of the Sandia Mountains - the Spanish word sandia means watermelon - so named for their ability to turn a brilliant red at sunset.  Homeowners in Sundance Mesa share space with a wide variety of native creatures including many species of songbirds, jackrabbits and cottontails, raptors and owls, coyotes and even an occasional bobcat.  Our community is also home to a herd of wild horses, visible from a majority of the homes in Sundance Mesa.

We've included photos of some of our local natural beauty below. If you are a Sundance Mesa homeowner with additional photos you'd like to share, please send them via email attachment to webmaster@sundancemesa.com
